[RBW] Long enough frame pump for Appaloosa

2020-06-20 Thread Bill F
The size 4 Zefal HPX was a little too short for my 60 cm Appaloosa so I use the
Zefal Doodad Plus velcro straps to hold it in place.

[RBW] Long enough frame pump for Appaloosa

2020-06-20 Thread John Casteen
We may have different Zefal pumps (I can't remember the size number of mine),
but it fits well in my 58 cm Appaloosa. I just went with the sizing by
measurement and Riv recommendation and have bounced it all over the place
without incident. It may seem less secure than it actually is. On the other
hand, I would have to agree with the poster who recommended the Silca, if you
end up needing to buy something new...

[RBW] Long enough frame pump for Appaloosa

2020-06-20 Thread Bones
I’ve been using a Zefal HPX 4 on my 62 Appaloosa for over a year and it has
never budged. I believe the top tubes are the same length. Maybe it’s the
second top tube that makes it feel more secure, but I never worry about it.

Bite the bullet and get the Silca. You can leave it to your children in your
will. Last pump you’ll ever buy.

I have a Topeka road master blaster on my 59 Appaloosa and it fits snug and
fine. Probably the XL.

[RBW] Long enough frame pump for Appaloosa

2020-06-19 Thread Nick Payne
I'm putting together a 57cm Appaloosa, and even the XL size Topeak Road
Masterblaster or Zefal size 4 that I use on my other frames, which have top
tubes around 59cm C-C, are not really long enough to be a secure fit along
the top tube of the Appaloosa, which has a 62.5cm top tube. The pumps only
have to be compressed a couple of millimetres to fit, which I don't think
provides enough spring compression to keep the them in place over bumpy
terrain.

I see that there is the Silca Impero, which appears to come in a long
enough version, but the price is a bit staggering. Anything else available?
