I like fixed with flat pedals covered in grip tape. My bike shoes are whatever regular shoes I have that have worn out. I love bike snob. I like plain old tennies with my clips and straps (not Converse, sierratradingpost closeouts - http://www.sierratradingpost.com/hummel-stadil-low-top-usa-shoes-canvas-sneakers-for-men~p~3399g/?filterString=s~men-sneaker%2F&colorFamily=01) though I do use boat shoes for quick in and out errands. With my Grip Kings, Merrell Convertible sandals or Merrell Proterra Sport for toe cover. I'm adverse to cleats. Haven't yet gotten to BSNYC; this is one more encouragement. Who says I'm taking the NYT seriously? Not me! I forwarded the link only for the "no ruse shoes" connection. I still think loose-as-you-want straps and street shoes are the ideal "what, me worry?" shoe-to-pedal solution. Bike snob skewered that article hard today, it was hilarious. As a nyc rider I can tell you that one can ride the citi bike at 4mph for 10 minutes in wooden shoes if you want. Don't take anything the times says so seriously. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/11/fashion/looking-smart-on-the-pedals.html?_r=0 Personally, from my own experience, the ideal worry free shoe-and-pedal system is loose-ish toe straps and boat shoes in summer, Safari boots in winter. Both have soles that grip standard track or quill pedals, and with the clips/straps you can fine tune the entry ease. But, for me, riding fixed, clipless systems help me torque up climbs and keep my foot still when spinning very fast. Odd, I found it easy to get into, and to get out of, clips and straps with fixed drivetrains, even using slotted cleats, and I find getting the second foot into single sided SPD and Look pedals noticeably harder. I think it's over anticipating with the second (right) clip in foot. -- http://resumespecialties.com/index.html patrickmo...@resumespecialties.com http://www.linkedin.com/in/patrickmooreresumespec/ Albuquerque, NM -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
