[RBW] Re: Autumn Quickbeam Ride!

2014-09-29 Thread Michael Hechmer
Nice. It makes me want to visit Colorado with my bike. And that's a lot
for a Vermonter to say in autumn! I'm always amazed by people who avoid
riding on dirt roads. Just as your photo essay shows, they provide the
best combination of beautiful views and light traffic.

Glad to read that your recovery is going well. We're just back from our
Block Island trip. I'll try to pull together a little report to share.

Aspen colors are stellar. What a wondrous gift to get to ride these roads

Oh, I nearly hit a deer while climbing (go figure). She was grazing on the

remember that now, not then. She startled into the road as I was nearly
next to her, only just quick enough to evade my front wheel. Then she went

[RBW] Re: Autumn Quickbeam Ride!

2014-09-29 Thread Deacon Patrick
@ Jim: My iPhone has been my only camera since I got my first one (the
second version), and they have now improved the camera to such a degree
that there are very few times I think I wish I had a DSLR I hauled
everywhere with me. It handles macros amazingly well as well as being much
improved with low light situations. I am very impressed with iPhone 6's
camera.

@ Michael: Vermont gets amazing colors -- I've never been out east for
autumn but love seeing photos. Perhaps someday! Our window of aspen color
tends to be fairly brief, but is extended by variations in altitude and
micro-climates, so you can squeeze 2 weeks out of it if you time the spots
well.

@ Hugh: It was amazing to get out and ride, almost like normal. I still
feel things a bit and can't run down trails, but I've been running up them
for about 4 days now. Still, I'm amazed at how fast the healing is
happening -- a real blessing!
