Sure do Bill! I’m planning on getting there a few minutes early to set up,
so I should be ready to measure at 5pm. Looking forward to learning more
about your bikes!

I'll be measuring steel frames using my ultrasonic thickness gauge at
the Box Dog Bikes fundraiser party on Saturday. Come learn about your bike
and help us build a public database of frame knowledge!

 Details:
 Saturday December 15th, 5pm - 8pm
Box Dog Bikes, 494 14th St, San Francisco, CA 94103

 https://www.instagram.com/p/BrOJKdyl-WO/

Measuring is free. There will be an optional donation jar at the
measuring station. All donations go directly to Box Dog Bikes to help this
worker-owned cooperative recover from their recent break in.

Here are the results I've collected so far:

 https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1XeS2nJhBPSDRbqgG1-F2VOI_vK1QZnZmysARDJWyGps/edit?usp=sharing

And a bike like yours has already been measured, please feel free to
bring it anyway! Especially if it is a different size.

 Cheers,
 Reed

I'm supposed to be in Downtown Oakland at 6:45. If I'm there at Box Dog at
5PM with both the Legolas and the Ebisu in my van, do you envision that
would work?

Hey Bill,

Oh, that's a tough choice! I'd say either the Legolas or the Ebisu if I got
to pick. So it sounds like the Legolas has the most mutual interest between
us.

But you're also welcome to show up with more than one if you can manage.
Either way, with one bike or many, it would be great to see you there!

[RBW] Re: Bay Area: Measuring frame tubing at the Box Dog Bikes party on Saturday!

2018-12-13 Thread Bill Lindsay
Reed

I'm not certain I can attend, but I very much want to. I want to
eventually measure several of my bikes, but I can only ride one at a time
from BART to Box Dog. Maybe I'll bring a few bikes in my Minivan.

IF I limit myself to one bike, my top candidates are:

1. Rivendell Legolas, made in Spring 2018 by Nobillette. Ostensibly,
rumored to be the thinnest wall tubing Rivendell will ever spec.
2. Ebisu All Purpose, ~2003.
3. Rivendell Leo Roadini
4. Rivendell Sam Hillborne 2009
5. Gunnar Crosshairs custom

Do you care which one I bring? I imagine the Roadini would have a lot of
interest, because it's currently something you can buy off the rack. It's
lower on my priority list because I know the data, regardless of what it
is, will be used to disqualify the Roadini from consideration because it's
too stout. I'm most curious about the Legolas, so if you don't care that's
the one I'll try to bring.
