Don't An-atomicas have the cut-out in them? That makes me think it would wear out faster with a heavier rider. Re: [RBW] Re: Brooks B-17's wearing out
They come with or without cut outs and in regular or cydesdale thickness. When RBW sold them, they only offered the thicker models. A black one adorns my Ram. They've gotten pricey. [RBW] Re: Brooks B-17's wearing out
I'd say try a Brooks Pro. I have a Brooks Pro Classic (budget model) and the leather is much stiffer than on a B17 yet it's still a comfortable saddle. [RBW] Re: Brooks B-17's wearing out
Buy a VO saddle they have stiffer leather with a reinforcement mesh underneath them. That's what I did and I weigh 265 and own several Brooks saddles with over 15K miles on them. [RBW] Re: Brooks B-17's wearing out
Like others have said...get an old one. I bought an old NOS B-17 (mid 70's) a couple years back and it is noticably stiffer than the newer versions. Rock hard but still has that shape of the b-17 that adapts to the arse instantly...if you are one of those peoples whose arse is adaptable to the b-17 (does that make any sense?). Or, get a Pro. I've had several, and sold just as many because they are rock hard. I guess they break in after awhile (or the arse adjusts), but I don't have the patience...although I do have a new (old) one on a bike I haven't ridden yet...will report back in a year.
