For what it's worth, I'm in exactly the same situation on the next size up. I'm 6'-2", which is supposed to be right in the middle of fit range for the 59, but the standover is too high for how I wanted to use it too. In my case, which is probably like you, that was as a casual, around-town, curb-hopping, light trail and rough roads bike. But I pretty much hit bone standing on level ground. As it is however, I like the bike so much that I've just found other ways to use it. It works surprisingly well as a fastish, smooth roads and bike path cruiser. If I even had a half-inch of clearance from my pubic bone, I'd be ecstatic and wouldn't hesitate to use it anywhere I wanted. Just measured mine on the stock tires from (Kenda Kwik Seven-5 27.5 x 1.75) and the brocure is spot on at 31.5 in standover. Must be a typo. Here's the suggested fit from the 'L' version page: 45cm / 26-inch traditional mountain bikey size wheels. I'm 79pbh, 5'-7", and the 52 fit great with the stock Bosco bars. I think someone slightly shorter could ride it, by 5'-0” ?? Interesting. I am 5'8" with a 31.5 PBH. And that is quite a range.
