[RBW] Re: Cygolite mounting questions

2012-11-15 Thread pam
I have a Paul Gino Mount and the Nob and neither worked for me. I have
fenders and 1 1/2 in? wide tires so the light beam is half way on the tire
when I try to mount the light on the fork. So I just put the light back on
the handlebars. I have the Nite Rider MiNewt 600 rechargeable light. Any
suggestions? If not, I can send one of these to someone if anyone needs
one. I know where the Paul mount is. I'll have to look for the Nob. I
took it off a while ago.

[RBW] Re: Cygolite mounting questions

2012-11-12 Thread John
Stephen S. and all others who gave advice: thanks! I ended up getting a
Paul "Gino" mount for the fork braze-on. Great product! Simple, fairly
cheap, just what I need.

[RBW] Re: Cygolite mounting questions

2012-11-06 Thread John
Thanks for the ideas to all.

Looks like Ginos light is a good solution, but it works for M5 braze ons;
I've got M4 where I want to attatch the light (mid fork braze on).

Ditto for the VO gaget.

Charlie's solution might be my best bet: make my own. Of course I can do
this, but I'd rather not spend my precious time tinkering - I'd rather
spend it riding. I've got two small kids (4 and 6), a 50+ hr. a week job,
and etc. Finding time to ride is almost impossible, let alone tinker.

Charlie: I can attatch my Princeton EOS to my helmet if I want. I would not
normally wear a helmet lamp, because I prefer the light down lower so as
not to blind others (If I were trail riding, I might be of a different
mind).

[RBW] Re: Cygolite mounting questions

2012-11-05 Thread charlie
With the threaded dropout or fork blade braze on you could take a section
of brass, copper, steel or aluminum pipe the diameter of a handlebar more
or less and put a flat piece on each end with a hole to run a long bolt
through. You could use locktite (the removalable kind) to make sure it
stays. Heck you could even use a turned solid piece of something even wood
and drill a hole and attach the same way. Super simple. My only question,
why the fork.? Why not use it on your helmet to aid in turning corners
and for 'pointing' at inattentive drivers?

2012-11-05 Thread Stephen S
Which part of the fork do you want to attach to?

Paul's Gino mount works well on attaching to a braze on the fork.
http://www.paulcomp.com/ginolightmount.html

The cronometro knob works reasonably well from what I hear for mounting
most places on the fork blades :
