[RBW] Re: FS (Soonish): 61cm Romulus complete ($900USD); 60cm Saluki($1500USD); 59cm Clementine frameset ($450USD)

2019-07-21 Thread Sky Coulter
Update:

Saluki frameset is sold.

Clementine frameset is off the market indefinitely until I ensure frame
integrity and likely rattle can a new patch of paint.

Romulus frameset/bike has not sold. It has a right chainstay/drop out
repair and that seems to have discouraged potential buyers (I think I
offered pretty thorough visual representation in the video and pictures in
this post chain). This is the last update I'll make to this post though.
Personally, I think the Romulus frameset is worth more than 400 USD - my
only motivation to sell is an issue of space and redundancy (it's not quite
worth the 400 + space). It's now packed away in a box and I'll likely leave
it in a closet until my son is older or someone expresses interest (or
something goes wrong with one of my other bikes).

Thanks to everyone who reached out and expressed interest.

You can see pictures of the bikes built up on my flickr account,
although some parts may have been swapped around since then.
 https://www.flickr.com/photos/140959259@N03/with/34293459844/

I'd prefer to sell the Romulus and Saluki as completes but may consider
framesets at some point in the future. I'll try to put up current photos
with complete part lists in the near future. The "completes" will not
include saddles, racks or pedals. The clementine frameset will include
seat post and headset but not bottom bracket (I'd sell it as a complete,
but I worry that I won't be able to find a suitable box). Price does not
include shipping (via bikeflights) nor paypal fees (so please either cover
fees or choose friends and family).

 Disclosure:

The Romulus previously had a right rear chainstay/dropout repair. It
isn't particularly noticeable and I imagine it is stronger that the
 original dropout.

The Saluki has some chain suck and a pretty noticeable paint chip in
 the cream headtube.

The Clementine frameset has had issues with the paint finish chipping
off. I haven't had this problem with any other Rivendells, including the
other 59cm Clem L I have. I'll try to take some pictures in the near
future detailing the kind of paint chipping I'm talking about.

All of the bikes have chips, dings and other signs of wear and tear,
but I don't believe there are any obvious dents. I'll go over all the
 bikes
closely before boxing and will mention and photograph any potential issues.

 Timeline:

The reason I listed this as "FS (Soonish)" is it may take me 1-2 weeks
to look everything over, take pics and document parts and pack the bikes
 up
for shipping. Doubtless a more methodical person would take all these
steps before posting anything. But I fear that if I delay until I have
everything sorted, I'll just keep delaying.

Please feel free to ask any questions. Thanks for taking the time to
 read.

issue. I'd rather sandblast it and repaint it myself someday and use as a
backup bike.

It's too bad about the Clementine paint, but I'm 99% sure it's not a frame

to how brittle the paint is when you crank down bolts on eyelets; anybody who's
