[RBW] Re: Fellowship of the Rigs update: TIME & PLACE

2019-03-06 Thread Bill Rhea
The weekend of July 20th sounds really good, I'm there! I'll ride out of
SF that Friday right after work; if anyone else is doing the same LMK and
maybe we can ride up together.

Sorry to hear about your baby, Justin, hope he/she is feeling better
shortly.

Yes. The dry Creek campgrounds. Keep planning to start a new thread chatting
about it but right now my 1.25 year old has an ear infection so I’m occupied.
If someone else can start a new thread with planning that would be aces.

Hammocks are verboten everywhere in SPT to my knowledge. I’ll call on Monday
and check my memory with the Rangers. I’ll also be trying to sweet talk them
into an early allowance of reservation.

Exciting! And I’m somewhat shocked I’m the one doing all this. 2019!

[RBW] Re: Fellowship of the Rigs update: TIME & PLACE

2019-01-05 Thread dougP
Just a thought: I've found that it's often cheaper to book a campsite than
to pay the individual hiker/biker price. There could be a restriction on
number of tents per site but IMHO rangers are pretty cool about it when
they see the size of tent. They just don't want a bunch of stand up,
family sized tents crammed onto a space.

2019-01-05 Thread Esteban
Madrone: warm showers (mostly), plumbing, large area, lots of slant, but
fine places to lay a tent. I'm not sure if hammocks are allowed, but if so,
there would be plenty of places to hang them. That's one of the questions
I'd ask the rangers.

Hey Justin, you might consider giving the friendly rangers at SPT a call.
I’ve found them quite helpful in the past. They obviously know their park
well, and if you ask about the relative merits of the different group sites
I bet they’ll be happy to help.

No experience with the group sites, but have seen them, and they all seem
‘large’ and ‘flat’ enuff.

The one along the Cross Marin Trail, before the bridge, seems large and
private...pit toilet tho, I think Madrone has actual plumbing.
