This morning each had lost noticeable amounts of air. Repeated the test
(both Kendra tubes btw.) with the same results. Decided to simply replace
the tubes. Put the Saluki's 650b together with a new Schwalbe tube. When
I tried to blow it up with my well worn Air Hammer floor pump, the pump
jammed. Disassembled the pump, cleaned it up, but finally decided it
needed a new O ring. Ten miles round trip to the hardware store. Now
reassembled the pump seems to work in reverse! The handle feels very firm
when I lift it up, but when I let go the suction pulls the pump more than
 half way down.

I think I'll go roto till the garden.

2015-05-01 Thread Michael Hechmer
Watch out for snake bites, you got that right. While working in the garden
it occurred to me that the only thing that could possibly explain the pump
failure was the one way intake valve, and I could not repair or replace
that. Time for I new pump. 30 miles RT to the nearest bike shop and I had
a shiny new Lezyne floor pump.I got busy replacing tires. Actually, I
miswrote in my first post it was my Trek which had the flat, since I had
taken the tires off of my Saluki and given them to my wife. So I needed to
repair tires on the Ram Trek and replace new tires on the Saluki and
ordered new tires. Those new Pari-Motos aren't too hard to mount but they
are hard to mount straight. Having gotten them on the bike, brakes
adjusted and blown up, I spun the front and realized it wasn't very
straight. I walk around and spun the back to check it out. That's when
the front tube blew. Snake bite.

I'm reduced to eating popcorn and having a glass of wine.
