[RBW] Re: Looking for a replacement for the old MUSA short sleeved merino wool jersey

2019-08-07 Thread dstein
Those royal blue ones were the best. There's nothing quite like them.
Closest I found were the Ibex ones before they shuttered. They were plain,
no frill lightweight t-shirts. You could wear them on and off the bike.
There weren't form fitting either which I personally liked (though I think
the benefit of wool comes from being closer to the skin to wick the sweat
away?). Mine is also on the fritz and will be missed.

2019-07-30 Thread William deRosset
Dear Eamon,

The Kucharik jerseys are club cut, though less club cut than a Hanes
beefy-T. I wear a large "race-cut" jersey (size 4) and a medium in Kucharik
short-sleeve jerseys.

Wabi Woolens medium-tall is an optimum fit in their original (winter)
jerseys, though a large is still a fit for me (just a relaxed one) and I
fit a large in their (race-cut) sport jerseys.

Best Regards,

Will

2019-07-28 Thread Rod Holland
While I've got a couple of Kucharik jerseys on order, they haven't arrived
yet; more on those later. I've worn the MUSA short sleeve jerseys that I
bought from Riv some years back for a number of summers, and think highly
of them. They're quite light weight, corresponding roughly to what
Smartwool used to call "microweight", and currently calls "150". The
Portland Cyclewear merino wool jerseys are beautifully made, with a
somewhat heavier weight, but an open weave that has allowed me to wear them
on several summer rides without overheating. They wick moisture well, and
support evaporative cooling. I'll post again when I've got more experience
with these, the Kucharik, and a Yeti Turq merino jersey that appears to be
as light weight as the MUSA.

2019-07-17 Thread Keith Weaver
I've been wearing the Minus33 merino 1/4 zip short sleeve shirts for
several years. Good durability, one of mine has a few holes, but I think
those are due to moths. My newer one was purchased almost two years ago and
has no holes. I wash them in the machine with Kookaburra wool wash and hang
dry. They're actually a little loose cut. No pockets unfortunately, but
quite good otherwise.I get mine at amazon, see here:
Minus33-Merino-Wool-Tarleton
.
These are the closest I have found to a merino bike jersey in a cut that is
compatible for my heavier, shorter build (5'6", 200 lbs, size 46 chest). I
wear an XL in these.

HI Rod,

FWIW, Kucharik is still in business and produces nice-quality, reasonably
priced wool jerseys.

Their sizing runs toward the roomier end of things also, unlike most
