Thank You Irv. I'd gone there but must not have looked under accessories.
Seems strange to me they'd consider replacement brake hoods an accessory.
Oh well, I'm happy they are available.

The levers come with a little insert that goes under the hood, depending
on where on the bars you want them - and an instructional picture that was
useless. It was a little awkward getting that on but after that the
installation was a snap. The brake cable goes over the lever and you get a
really good view of the hole you are trying to hit. That's important for
 my old eyes.

The levers are very comfortable, perhaps a tad narrower than the ones
they replaced but very pleasing to my hands, both sitting and standing.
They pull a lot of cable, which makes set up with canti brakes very
simple. They have a very light touch and a nice feature on the quick
release. Instead of resetting the QR pin manually these automatically
reset when you compress the lever. Again nice for us old guys who often
 say the Senility Prayer:

God grant that I only forget the people I don't like, only bump into the
ones I do, and the eye sight to tell them apart.

The TRP levers are angled outwards, making it much much easier to
brake. It can make a big difference on long descents.

2013-06-06 Thread Mike Schiller
I have a pair of the black ones with drilled levers. They work well but are
a little thin for my hands compared to the SRAM S500's. I wrapped some
extra cork bar tape around the base of the brake to fatten them up a bit.

I splurged also. I like them a lot and would like to keep them for a long
long time. However, I've yet to find replacement gum hoods. Does anybody
know if, or where, these are available?

Thanks for the review, and the prayer, I have a set of these on a partially
built up Velo Orange Rando frame but have not used them yet so its nice to
hear good things about them. I found them for a semi reasonable price at
ebikestop.com but I agree they are on the spendy side. I was was spending
like a drunken sailor when I put together that build ;-)
