Sean, sorry to take so long, but I was on an overnighter here in Va. (Yes, I
know, but somebody has to do it)!

Anyway, the Ohio to Erie Trail Fund and their maps are located at
www.ohioerietrail.org. (Ask for the updates as well as the 4 maps). They also
have a Facebook page under Ohio to Erie Trail.

On several of the photos, it looked as thought you had a map / guidebook that

a copy for myself - so a link would be much appreciated.

As a native of Ohio (I grew up in Mansfield) I've contemplated returning to my
home state a few times to ride from Cleveland to Cincinnati. This fall my son
will start his freshmen year at Denision University, which is located in the
Columbus area. He and I rode the Erie Canal trail to Albany a few summers ago.
As a result of his decision to attend school in Ohio, my thoughts of another
father-son bike trip were rekindled. Your photos certainly helped to rekindle
that thinking as well.

Thanks again,

Sean

[RBW] Re: Ohio to Erie Trail trip

2016-07-03 Thread George Schick
365 miles in 5 days works out to just over 70 miles per day, which is quite
a bit for self-supported touring. Along with having to pitch and strike
your tents, cook your meals, etc. that you wouldn't have had much time for
any sightseeing. Good planning to schedule it during some of the longest
daylight hours of the Summer, though. Looks like it was a blast!

2016-07-02 Thread Surlyprof
Great photos. Thanks for sharing them. Brought back wonderful memories of
my childhood near Canal Fulton, OH. Looks like they've really gotten the
towpath restored beautifully all over. I knew that a section near my
brother's house in Clinton is quite nice. Didn't realize how many other
parts were restored. Wish I could ship my Sam back to try that tour. What
were your start and end points?
