Good Shafter Bridge shot. Definitely not the whole corral of Rivendells that
weekend!

Note for attendees: final cleanup of camp produced two abandoned/forgotten
Klean Kanteens. If they’re yours and you want them back, let me know. I also
lost a basket net, but that’s probably blowing down Hwy 101 somewhere.

Hey folks, I had a super great time meeting everyone I did and if I didn't
meet you, then next time!

I know some folks on the Saturday ride were taking photos/videos, would be
great to get a peek at them since I was mainly concerning myself with
eating enough to survive the climbs. I was curious to know how much
climbing we did Saturday so I put it into mapmyride (if anyone has a less
ad-blighted option for this kind of tool please reply) and it looks to
confirm that yes, my legs were very tired.

Thanks,

Anybody have the scoop on this route through Loma Alta? I'd been planning
to head out via Sir Francis Drake and would love to try this option.

Leaving from the Golden Gate Bridge plaza (SF side) today at 3:30pm if
anybody wants to join! Slow and relaxed pace.

Cheviot, and my 10 year old son Julien (not a Riv rider, but he'll be
bringing his Cannondale).

I also added our names to the Google doc. and I PM'd you our car info

Thanks a ton for the work that you guys put in to arrange this! We are
fairly new Riv owners, so we didn't even know about the 20th. We're excited
to see all your bikes and hang out and hopefully go for a ride!

My spouse Willow and I are in as well! I've added us to the spreadsheet.

We're planning to leave from the GG Bridge Plaza around 3:30pm on Friday
afternoon and take a fairly chill route up at a relatively slow pace.
(Willow is mainly a commuter cyclist.)

Anyone else interested in riding up at that time and pace?

I am coming. Pine mountain on Saturday sound good!

I'd love to do Entmoot, but will probably have to do it in spirit and just
travel with one fully geared bike for those dirt climbs.

I can't wait to enjoy the outdoors with y'all.

I added my name on the google doc, I did rsvp on the original eventbrite.
Not sure who is managing that but could be useful to get that list. The
plan is I am riding up from SF with Bill Rhea on Friday, not sure if I'll
stay Saturday night or not. Happy to join others for the ride up.

I shall attend, representing the great County of San Diego and the
Borderlandz!

I'm happy to include Pine Mountain on Saturday, and defer to my friends who
know the trails and maps.

Will this also serve as an Entmoot? I see at least one Quickbeam listed as
attending. Maybe Sunday can include a gentleperson's Entmoot-inspired ride
(or ride home), as we did 5 years ago.

Looking forward to this!

If you’re coming by bike, I can escort you to the Cross Marin trail from
Fairfax. I’ve never been on the Loma Alta(?) fireroad, but I see it on the map.
I don’t mind climbing White Hill, so I’m not worried about missing it.

I do kind of want to bring two bikes, now, though.

I live here and I couldn't find those trails if you paid me. There's this weird
thing in Marin where everyone just assumes everyone else knows how to get
there.

2019-07-09 Thread Philip Williamson
I just took Friday July 19 off, so I can come down on the train. Not sure on
time of day yet, but I’m happy to convoy with people coming down from the North
Bay.
Long day = head over to Mill Valley, up RR Grade, out Bolinas Ridge, find the
Jewell Trail.
Late start = Straight to Fairfax, find Loma Alta trail, Cross Marin, etc.

I will have patches at the campout, yes. People have claimed 1/3 of the total
number, and covered half the production cost. If I get the patches delivered
early enough, I’ll just mail them out before the campout. It’s simpler than
finding people around the campfires.

Ill be attending, originally with a +1 but I ll just be solo this time.
Possibly leaving from work Friday afternoon or catching the first train
over from Berkeley Saturday morning. If anyone is interested in riding over
from the East Bay early morning on Saturday, please reach out and we can
coordinate riding together!

Depending on how the legs feel I would be down for a Pine Mountian loop if
people will tolerate my slowness. Ill be on a Quickbeam so there would be
some gear changing and walking for me.

I'm down for some food sharing as well, maybe we should start a spreadsheet?

[RBW] Re: RBW at 25: The Fellowship of the Rigs

2019-07-09 Thread Neil Doran
I am also sad to be missing this...dang, missed the last one, too!

The patches look great, very well done!

My vote for a Saturday ride (in absentia) is Pine Mtn, finishing on BoFax
Road and dropping Jewell Trail right back into camp.

(Repack is fun in a special way, but the White's Hill pavement climb
sucks.)

Which reminds me, anybody riding in the typical way on SFD from Fairfax is
highly encouraged to take the trails through Loma Alta as it cuts out that
terrible pavement climb and replaces it with dirt.

And everyone knows about the Cross Marin trail, right? (I only bring it
up because I met some local-ish folks a few weeks ago who did not know it
existed...)

Have fun!

2019-07-09 Thread Collin A
I'll be joining, likely heading over from SF on Saturday morning as leaving
Friday after work would be a hassle for me, sadly. I was thinking this kind
of route with a mix of paved and unpaved sections that avoid some of the
worst roads:
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/25875477

Then I'd head home Sunday via Bolinas Ridge and back into Mill valley
through one of the fire roads.

Phillip, will you have the patches with you on the weekend?

I can bring some hobo-wrap components to cook in the fire pit (potatoes,
onions, peppers, sausage), that way it would be more of a social meal! We
would still need foil, olive oil, etc, but that could get picked up in
Lagunitas or in Fairfax before we make it to the site. Also, Smores!

Looking forward to it,
