[RBW] Re: Seattle RBWers: Help Buying A CL Bike
I'd be glad to help. Let me know what I can do. Email me off list? Rob in Seattle On Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 12:54:00 PM UTC-7, cyclot...@gmail.com wrote: I came across a what appears to be a great bike at a good price for my son: http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/bik/4995383848.html Only problem is that it's in Seattle, and I'm not. Suggestions and/or assistance in procuring it sought. Good shops to work with, someone to eyeball the bike, anything like that. Lots of ways this could go sideways, but I'm excited enough to pursue it. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. I replied off-list to Rob H, but I think it's working out to have someone check it out for me! THANKS Mariner fans! [RBW] Re: Seattle RBWers: Help Buying A CL Bike
Yeah, it got my attention! From what I've found, it's a bit of a sleeper frame, one that gets real good reviews considering a humble lineage: http://www.mtbr.com/cat/bikes/bike-hardtail/nashbar/2006-signature-853/prd_414770_96crx.aspx I think it's basically a de-badged Salsa Ala Carte sold by Nashbar. Real nice build with relatively modern components. 26 MTBs are currently at an evolutionary dead end, so they're pretty easy to find. Most are aluminum of course, with the higher end ones being crabon. A nice Reynolds or True Temper steel one is a treat to find! [RBW] Re: Seattle RBWers: Help Buying A CL Bike
i am in bellingham, not seattle. But how i would do this is ask the owner, your price, my terms. ask him if he minds taking the bike to REI and having them box and ship. REI ships so many bikes they get good rates on shipping. Didnt i find that out on the list? other less good option is Montlake cycles. it was a good shop when Lynne Schaefer bought her bike there in 1988. I expect it still is. closer to owner, but not as cheap to ship as REI. ask REI to look it over and take photos in case shipper damages it. some shops will inspect the bike and pay the owner out of funds provided by the buyer. Is any of this new information for anyone involved here? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. Never heard of the REI option, that's a good one! Definitely new information, thanks! On Thu, Apr 30, 2015 at 6:35 PM, bo richardson borus...@gmail.com wrote: i am in bellingham, not seattle.
