Re: [RBW] Re: Thin Gripsters are cool
Mike, You can contact Riv or VP, either one will likely take care of you pretty quickly. I have had one pedal display that during the honeymoon period with mine. I talked a bit with VP and it apparently happens, but infrequently, and when it did they made it right. I had a new set at my door pretty quickly. Grease may help, they are easy to pull apart an inspect. If there is nothing obvious, and they keep clicking contact Riv Rob On Monday, July 29, 2013 1:43:40 PM UTC-7, Mike On A Bike wrote: > > I was totally, madly in love with these pedals until... the damned > bearings started "clicking" on both pedals 6 months into having them. The mechanic at my LBS used a grease gun to pump grease through the pedal. Both of my pair needed it. Dennis, Was pretty sure they were the Thin Gripsters. Although could be wrong. I noticed it because it was different from either of my two pair. They weren't close into the pedal like the Vice. The VP-vise looks like a good pedal, too, though I would discount the Q-factor claim. On my VP-001 thin gripsters, I find my shoes regularly ride against the cranks - not interfering, just lightly rubbing. Then again, my feet are wide enough that I can have my instep against the crankarm, and the entire pedal is still covered by the shoe. - Andrew, Berkeley On Saturday, July 27, 2013 5:46:40 AM UTC-7, justin...@gmail.com wrote: > > Rob over at Ocean Air makes a pretty convincing case to upgrade to the VP > Vice. > http://oceanaircycles.com/2013/04/22/vp-vice-and-001-pedal-comparison/ > - Lower Q > - Easier pins > - Less stress on the bearings > > Interesting! > > -J > > -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. +1 on Thin Gripsters. I use them w/ the Hold Fast straps and really like the combination. I can wear any shoe that I own and ride with foot retention. Pretty cool. I have found it helpful to remove the pins on the front half of the pedal to allow your foot to slide in and not get hung up on the pins. Pics to prove it. :) http://www.flickr.com/photos/76454470@N05/9373879232/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/76454470@N05/9371099763/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/76454470@N05/9373881064/ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Y'all almost have me convinced. I have an eye askance at a very nice, as-new Monocog Flight 29er at Stevie's; owner originally asking $750 and now, very plaintively, asking $300. If it's still there in a month This sort of bike will be for short distance sand hogging and grippy flats might just be the thing. Come to think of it, the bike already has platform pedals on it. Re: [RBW] Re: Thin Gripsters are cool
Thin gripsters are great. Unless I am riding fixed gear its really not that huge a deal if my foot comes off on a big bump or errant gear change. Aha -- from the shoes ruse to no retention to missed footing to retention! Patrick Moore, loyally using SPDs and Looks with nary a foot wrong in ABQ, NM. Once in a while, due to bad bump or a wildly missed shift, my feet come off the thin gripsters. I think I'll try a set of the FRS straps, just to see... http://holdfastordie.com/store/foot-retention-system - Andrew, Berkeley -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Re: Thin Gripsters are cool
Just got my Hillborne today and spent a few hours on it. It's rocking the new thin Gripsters and I was instantly impressed. As a long time Grip Kings user I am shocked to find a pedal I actually like a little more. I had my bike originally spec'd to have the Gip Kings but changes my mind at the last second. I am very glad that I did. On Wednesday, July 24, 2013 4:14:30 PM UTC-4, William wrote: > > I'm running my first pair of Thin Gripsters. I like them a lot so far. > They really do grab well. Am using them on the Sam Hillborne and Long Haul Trucker. Really enjoy them. Bought a pair for my wife' Betty so she'd have a solid platform. I took them out for a spin and well I'll be purchasing a pair for my Hilsen. ~Hugh On Wednesday, July 24, 2013 1:14:30 PM UTC-7, William wrote: > > I'm running my first pair of Thin Gripsters.
