[RBW] Re: Vintage "Time Warp" Raleigh Back on the Market

2016-07-06 Thread Lungimsam
My Bro in law has two of these and it is interesting to note the short stem
extensions...definitely the opposite philosophy of RBW.

Makes sense to use the shortest stem possible for ultimate upright riding.
Perhaps their bars don't have enough rear reach, like Bosco's do for use
with a long stem extension.

The reason I find it interesting is that Raleigh is, in effect, validating
shorts stem extensions, whereas two people at RBW poo-poo-ed short stem
extensions when I talked with them about them. I was shocked because RBW
velosophy is about using what works and makes sense for a given rider and
their riding purposes.

Its a pretty bike, several years ago it wouldn't have fetched much, but now
with vintage bikes of all types making a resurgence and it being in great
condition you may have something! Old Klunkers are positively enjoying cultlike
status these days, then there's the L'Eroica stuff and lastly the twead rides,
which this would be great for! I think there are some 3speed enthusiast groups,
you might try posting on one of those!

This is a willing-seller-willing-buyer situation. I'm open to reasonable offers.

That's a really remarkable... price. I guess it's a different market out on
the left coast. Here, despite seller ad copy to the contrary, they are very
common--even ones in great condition. Maybe cause we are closer to England?
I bought my ex-wife the same 3-speed coffee color in like new condition
for...less, not all that long ago. (If the one you have was never ridden,

while fumbling around in that dark, dry basement;^)

Here's one on a local CL right now:

The price in the ad is about the top end out this way, for one in excellent
shape, unless it's some special thing with dyno hub and rod brakes and
leather saddle. Maybe I should go into business with you shipping them out
there! (Still, I hope you didn't pay more than $450 for it!)
