Re: [RBW] Riv Ride: Yankee Springs, Hastings, MI RECAP

2023-05-29 Thread Garth
Nice Leah :-) Thanks for sharing the story and accompanying video !!!

Yeah, there's gravel covered hard pack dirt/rocky roads then there's
the kind of which you speak as a kid that are soft and deep, ploop your
tires go. Standing in it is even more comical. That's what I remember our
gravel roads in Minnesota being too... ploopers.

Re: [RBW] Riv Ride: Yankee Springs, Hastings, MI RECAP

2023-05-28 Thread Leah Peterson
Here’s the link of the video if the QR doesn’t work. I’ve switched my profile to PUBLIC for now. But I’ll be switching it back soon, so watch it soon.Leah Peterson on Instagram: "We hosted our Spring Unofficial Riv Ride on Saturday. The holiday weekend cost us some attendance, but we had a lovely group of 5 Riv Riders. Four of the five Rivendells were production models in custom colors!

The Lone Wolf graciously created a route for us; 30 gravel miles and I was terrified for about 20 of them. My memories of gravel as a kid on a bike are of being sucked down in it. On yesterday’s ride we would climb to the top of a hill and I’d think, there is no way we can ride down that. We’ll die. And then I’d watch one of the guys fly down it, drop bars and all, and I’d pray, hang on for dear life, and follow. There were hills to climb. If anyone complained about the steep climbs The Lone Wolf would helpfully remind us that he had, in fact, left the worst hills out of his route. (And also, that he would be happy to put them back in, if we liked.) Right out the gate we knew we’d been lied to. TJ yelled, “YOU INCLUDED THE THREE SISTERS?!” The Loneinstagram.comOn May 28, 2023, at 11:45 PM, Bicycle Belle Ding Ding! wrote:We hosted our Spring Unofficial Riv Ride on Saturday. TJ yelled, “YOU INCLUDED THE THREE SISTERS?!” The Lone Wolf does not know The Three Sisters. He thinks they are just hills on his way to Walmart. In actuality, they are three famous hills the racers must contend with on the celebrated Barry Roubaix race. Some of us walked those hills. Some of us are pictured walking those hills.Though I was certain of it, we did not die; we made it to the brewpub with all 5 riders and their Rivendells intact. I have included a photo of a QR code that will send you to my Instagram page, where the Ride Video is linked. Please enjoy. And if it does not work, let me know.I love these Riv Rides and the kind of sight-seeing/adventure biking they present. I have only found that here, in this community, and it leaves me wanting more of it. I am already anticipating the next time we will get to ride together. Please don’t make me wait too long.Leah
