My stash of presta tubes is divided about equally into those with and those
without removable cores. You *can* get Orange Seal into a tube without a
"removable" core, because even "non removable" cores are removable; it's
just a wee bit more of a hassle. I'd say that if you have the Schraeders
already, and there is no problem with them, use them.

Btw, I road thousands of miles on Presta tubes in rims drilled Schraeders
with no plugs, on road and off road, and had no problem whatsoever. I can
see the need for the adaptors only if you use very low pressures that allow
the valve to creep.

Schraders should work just fine. I has been years since I used them myself,
but I recall pulling the cores and cutting off the "return springs" on the
core to make inflation a bit easier; this would also remove one more thing
to be gummed up by the sealant. Perhaps modern Schrader valve cores no
longer have the little springs?

The only downside may be as Dn P said having to use the same pump on 2
different sorts of valves.

What led you to this assumption? Almost every currently-made presta tube
has a removable valve core. See the flats on the side of the valve end?

I converted my Schraeder rims to Presta back in 1973 and they worked
fine for many years. A grommet fills the big hole and secures the
smaller Presta valve. So if you do go ahead with this (in my humble
opinion ill-advised and incomprehensible) decision have no fear, you can
always go back.
