[RBW] Shoe Recommendations for VP Thin Gripsters (or Grip Kings)
I've been using sneakers by Puma or Clarks when riding my Hillborne with either a set of MKS Grip Kings or VP Thin Gripster pedals (which I highly recommend!). My feet sometimes ache after a long ride in squishy shoes. Has anyone found a stiffer soled shoe that they like with sneaker pedals? I love my Fivetens. They're very sticky-- Fiveten started out making climbing shoes, where grippiness is vital. Plus, they're stiff enough for biking, but bendy enough for the hike-a-biking that I end up doing quite a bit of. True story: FiveTen is located down the street from me. Unfortunately they don't have much of an outlet or such. On Monday, November 17, 2014 9:26:34 AM UTC-8, Anne Paulson wrote: I love my Fivetens. Actually I think the Portland Kids have only one opinion and it's chukka. Good to hear other opinions and options exist though. :) Aaron only a little embarrassed to admit I ride in chukkas Young The Dalles, OR On Monday, November 17, 2014, Chris Chen cc...@nougat.org wrote: the portland kids have a few opinions about footwear -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. I use Merrell Moab Ventilator shoes with VP vice pedals and the combo works well for me. With size 15 feet, choices are kinda limited. I have bespoke hiking boots and walking shoes (cobbler Dan Asay out of Bishop, CA), but for bicycling on platform shoes (now with velcro retention straps) I have found best results with Mizuno shot-putting shoes. Flat treadless soles, minimal rise around ankles, and combo lace-up and velcro closure. I found 'em on Amazon, would/will buy again. Just the right amount of stiffness that I can ride 80+ miles a day. - Andrew, Berkeley, LongLow + QuickBeam -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. I swear by the New Balance Minimus 20V3. They are super lightweight, breathable, comfortable and even stylish enough. The only issue is the durability can be a bit of an issue with some pairs, as the sole likes to separate from the toe area. New Balance has replaced an early-deteriorating pair for me in the past free of charge. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=19937206camp=CSE:GooglePLA:19937206:15421540:MENS%20ATHLETIC%20FOOTWEARCAGPSPN=plaCAWELAID=12013860155131catargetid=12013861603960cadevice=c On Monday, November 17, 2014 8:16:42 PM UTC-8, BSWP wrote: With size 15 feet, choices are kinda limited. Stiff sole: FiveTen Spitfire (heavy) or Ascent (light). Favorite for running/walking/biking with a minimalist bent are Evolve Cruzers (thx Amit!). I have 3 pairs - I like em that much.
