Crossing a 4-lane, 50 mph boulevard on the bike path, I was a bit too eager and misjudged my aim for the handicapped cutout on the opposite sidewalk. Bam! I bent the fork back enough to easily see the difference in angle, but strangely, not only were top and down tube unaffected, but I didn't even pinch flat, let along bend a rim -- and I was riding 22 mm actual 571 bcd Conti Grands Prix. I made it the remaining 10 miles home in the increasing darkness; the bike felt odd but I had no problem riding it. Rivendell very courteously arranged a discounted replacement fork by Curt Goodrich. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. aside from some no-handed shimmy, the bike rides and handles great! But just for piece of mind I think I'll take it to assenmacher to get it looked at. [RBW] Should I be concerned?
The seller owes you money. I hope it wasn't an iBob 'cause - regardless of how well it survived - that bike definitely got run into something solid. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. I should have mentioned that RBW bikes in general are pretty sturdy and I would ride it without concern. You might consider getting the frame/fork alignment checked, although if it steers and tracks normally it probably won't buy you anything... Looks to me like it might have had at least a mild front end collision, although the cracks etc. would generally be on the bottom of the top and down tubes... Maybe a roof rack incident? Does the Downtube have the same wrinkled paint at the head tube lug? That looks like the result of a crash. Is the fork bent?
