RE: [RBW] Re: Rambouillet white out!

2010-04-02 Thread Frederick, Steve
Huh, that is weird. The tan bag on my bike now is a newer version than my
black one, too, so maybe they've revised how they hang a bit? How old is
yours?

The Regal rails are a bit closer together than typical bag loop spacing---I
compenstated by angling them outward just a bit and it seems to work fine.
I'll see if I can get a shot of it.

Interesting. I have the same bag with those same loops on a Brooks Team Pro but
I can't get the bag as vertical either:

Maybe it's due to the different rail shape on the Regal… care to post some
detail photos? ;)

How are you attaching the acorn bag? I have the same bag but mine
doesn't seem to hang as vertical as yours pictured.

RE: [RBW] Re: Rambouillet white out!

2010-04-01 Thread Frederick, Steve
Thanks, Chris--hope I won't have to change it quite that often to keep it
looking new(ish)...B-) It's Fizik "microtex," bar tape and it reportedly holds
up well to a good scrubbing. Probably find out soon enough.

This Rambouillet looks fantastic! White bar tape is as classic as one
can get, in a racy kind of way. (I was the race official "in charge
of" Jonathan Boyer when he won the Race Across America in 1985. His
mechanic put new white bar tape on all three of his bikes every day of
the race. I never forgot that.) I like the pairing of the "racey"
white tape and saddle with the fenders and saddle bag. The contrast
works nicely! (And orange, well, that's Eddy's color, so that's just
plain excellent.) Bravo!

Looks to me like the Planet Bike Cascadia fenders, one of my
favorites. I think the white saddle and bar tape look great, but then
i use it myself on my 'cross bike; i rather like the grunge and decay
of cloth bar tape over time.
