Ok I will check.
For now, on both my Raleigh and Rambouillet bikes it just looks like the drive
side DO end is twisted a smidge. Maybe optical illusion. But because I thought
I might have been overtightening over the years I didnt snug as much this time.

If the dropouts are moving while you tighten the skewer, the dropouts are
out of alignment. Take the bike to a competent mechanic to have the
dropouts aligned.

Interesting, because on the recent wheel installation I gave the pitlock skewer
1/4 turn less than normal since I noticed my front DO getting bent looking a
little. Thought I must be overdoing the skewer tightness. I will re-snug and
see if that quiets it down. Thanks!

Typical sound you get when the skewer isn't tight enough.

Whew! Glad it is normal!
Yes, sounds like the magnet parts passing each other.
Thanks!

2018-11-02 Thread Tim Gavin
I have two PD-8s that make almost the same noise. It seems to dull over
time, but never goes away completely.

It's probably the sound of the dymano/magneto parts (wound stators?
whatever) going past each other.
