Thanks, Deacon Patrick. You might be right... thanks for the advisement. I
put on a pair of semi-knobby Gravel Kings (Panaracer) and gotta admit... I
feel a lot more confident/settled. It looked like the Home and Garden team
had just finished their watering and I did ride through the wet patch they
left behind, that could be the culprit, but I rode for 5 years on Marathon
Supremes and they laughed in the face of such obstacles.

You're style of riding is in parking lots? Grin.

If not, and roads of all types tend to be where you do most of y our 
riding, you may be dismissing them too quickly. Perhaps any tire would have 
slipped in a parking lot? They are riff with oil spots, after all.

With abandon,
Patrick, who loves his Barlow Pass and Steillacom for all roads and many 
trails, but avoids oil spots and slick ice no matter the tire.
