Here's a few pictures I took of the bike when I first built it up:

I don't really care for orange, even though Eddy rode orange (which is why
he will never be surpassed and why Velominati exists). But this dark
cinnamon orange -- now that is just *too* pretty for a bike!

Care to show a a pic of the whole thing?

And I thought desert sage green with cream was the cat's pyjamas.

I have my Molteni orange Della Santa and it just makes me happy gazing at
that color. I just posted some photos of spring cleaning it:

http://reno-rambler.blogspot.com/2017/05/what-spring-cleaning-means-to-cyclist.html

I also own the Burnt Orange Riv Allrounder and it's such a warm caramel
orange and very classy.

I just don't think you can go too wrong with it although my experience is
the color works best on more classic looking bikes.

Re: [RBW] Re: regarding orange bikes

2017-05-05 Thread Eric Floden
My wife and I decided last year to treat ourselves to nice new rides -- she
got an orange Bombadil, and I got an orange BMC monstercross. We are both
still tickled with the colours, one year on. They both look sharp!

(When I had Gilles Bertrand build me a bike back in 1999 I got to pick the
colour and went for cobalt blue, which I still enjoy as well...)

BTW, I added some yellow reflective tape on my lock and was happily
surprised at how well it went with the orange.

Plus mention orange and it will provide a springboard for Grandson to tell
his orange knock-knock joke, which I have heard less than 1,000 times (so
far).

Re: [RBW] Re: regarding orange bikes

2017-05-04 Thread René Sterental
I have blue in my Homer (now my son's, just so I can keep it around for a
while), light blue in the Cheviot (love it), Atlantis green, so unique I
could never have it repainted any different, silver in my custom, and now
creamsickle orange in the Hubbuhubbuh, which for a very long while I
debated based on the same concern. I don't like the muted orange, love the
Apaloosa mustard yellow, like the Hillborne's gray, don't particularly like
the Hubbuhubbuh's dark blue, and not sure about the sage, although I think
I like it. Oh, and I like the British racing green, but it bored me very
quickly on the Bombadil when I had it. Didn't like the gray/plum original
Hunqapillar, but liked it better when I repainted it Pewter.

So... no rules on colors is the rule!
