[TANKS] Re: 3 stage transmission
A little more progress for me, I removed half the spring/arm/wheel assemblies that where 5mm and ground them back with a grinder to match the other half which where 4.5mm. The profile of these springs has basically become a D shape. Charged up 2 parallel sets of Nicads and drove it around for just over 20 minutes. Because the internals are not done and everything is sort of just sitting there decided to drive it slow and help break it in. Its driving better than last time but still needs some attention. The tracks are working well but need to loosen up more, the rubber, chain, metal and bolts sort of stick which is normal for this track at this stage but eventually it will droop. Here are a few minutes of the spring testing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvM7EbxjHVEfeature=channel_page George Mastoras --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You are currently subscribed to the R/C Tank Combat group. [TANKS] Re: Tank Hauler?
Regarding tank hauler solutions Frank wrote: Sounds like you might be interested in the Tank Hauler Mark V design, as shown in the attached picture. Based on a series of failed tank hauler designs for the Tiger, the Mark V represents the highest achievement in tank hauler functionality. Though Frank takes much pleasure in extolling the virtues of his tank hauler and claims a design lineage from past Pitelli designs, it is in fact a cheap knock-off of the original Tyng Tank Hauler (TTH). If one were to review the following archival material from 2007 one will clearly see this for themselves. http://www.rctankcombat.com/archive/2007-09/msg00141.html All claimed virtues of the Pitelli hauler were in fact pioneered with the TTH and unlike Frank's steel version, a very functional TTH can be assembled from some scrap plywood, a 2x4, and some lawnmower wheels. One feature that Frank did not (our could not) steal/copy in his version was the self centering action provided by the angled leading edges of the support board (hence the ironing board nickname). This feature allows an automatic centering of the hauler to the tank when the tank is backed onto it. [TANKS] Re: Gun emplacements
Modena wrote: how bunker like emplacements and their operating crew (and thus destroying the crew) would work is not covered by the rules I don't believe - there are allowances for fixed artillery and crew, but not in the spirit of a bunkeresq emplacement. All of our fixed artillery pieces include a Guard Squad, with the number of squad members determined by the CD and battlers prior to the start of the battle. Guards are indeed an integral part of the fixed artillery emplacement, allowing opponents to destroy the gun by killing all of the Guards. When that happens, the artillery operator must take all fallen soldiers back to Home Base, along with any ammo stockpiled at the gun. The operator can only return when a Support Vehicle hauls the soldiers and 40 rounds of ammo back to the artillery emplacement. At that point, the operator re-deploys the Guards and can then resume artillery operations. Guards are worth 250 pts each when the artillery piece is destroyed. Guards must be placed 10 feet from the artillery piece and may not be hidden behind any obstruction. I paid £150 for a 40MHz Futaba 4 channel with servos and Rx about six years back. Chris, You can have ana ctual artillery piece, like the Flak 88 or Navarone gun. Or just like the Germans, use a tank turret.
