[TANKS] Re: what kind of metal
TIG welders and some MIG welders will do aluminium. Mild steel can be good but it can be a bit heavy, if you are worried about rusting if it you can just spray paint it with etch paint or something or you can get it powder coated. Wood would be a good idea as it's cheap and forgiving as previously said. Also it's a lot more likely that you have sufficient woodworking tools in your house than metalworking tools. -Gregory On Mon, Sep 28, 2009 at 10:47 PM, Clark Ward Jr ki4...@gmail.com wrote: I'm with Chris. [TANKS] Re: Thinking of 250w motors
I'm using the 350W version of that motor in the M113. Works great at 350W. Tons of torque. They are narrower to mount, but I didn't buy the mount. Kinda wish I did. My mount actually added about 1 of width to the motors, but still works well over the track sponsons. My first test drives pulled the mounting screws to the left motor out. Fixed it by making them much longer. Seems to have worked so far. Great motors. I got a deal on them when AllElectronics had them on sale for $35/per motor. They are all sold out though. I think some parts of that document might need updating, if the title is accurate it was written in 2002, and based of what people have built over the last year, I dont think kiddie car motors are the motor of choice these days.
