[TANKS] Re: free paper model of the German A7V tank
This is a real point ,Im building a 5`6 long 1/3rd Marder that only takes two hits to kill it. I wanted to build a 4 hit tank but cant fit myself in a 1/3rd scale anything else tank . At the last UK battle I was explaining to the newbies how my tank (T051) required four hits to kill it and the Marder (T068) only required two hits and the Jeep just the one hit. They looked at me like I was making it up on the spot so that I would die less . I have no idea if Frank / powers that be wish for a rule change here but it would simplify a little. Steve wrote I'm OK with this as long as the vehicle is at least 3' long. Now here lies a small problem, lets say Frank decided on a rule change , for simplicity if nothing else. some tanks are less than 3 long, does that mean the old rules would apply to them and only them ? if so we have had a rule made more complicated rather than a simplification . I agree, perhaps something like this. tanks over 3' - 4 shots tanks under 3' - 3 shots tanks under 2.5' - 2 shots armored cars over 3' - 3 shots armored cars under 3' - 2 shots armored cars under 2' - 1 shot support vehicles over 3' - 2 shots (if armored) support vehicles under 3' - 1 shot support vehicles under 2' - still only 1 shot And perhaps a special rule for tanks over 4' - 5 shots, for those guys who really like those abrams, leopords, and such. [TANKS] Re: free paper model of the German A7V tank
I know what would be simple , a tank takes 4 shots to be destroyed , I do realise that Frank would have considered all of this at the process of dreaming up these rules. the rules have worked perfectly well so far ,to my knowledge at least. And I will say that a 2 hit tank can only loose 500 of those all important points per visit to the battle field . Moreover it is often not greatly harder to land 4 shots on the side of a hull than it is to land 2 , if a good positioned is reached. So there from a points point of view, there can be an advantage being a 2 hit tank . My original comment was purely for a rule simplification as people do come to battles not knowing the rules. RE: [TANKS] Re: free paper model of the German A7V tank
ok, so what is a tank Accordingly to the current rules it is any fully tracked vehicle, so that means an M113 is a tank, and would be stratecially an excellent choice as its only 750mm long at 1:6 scale, and can be armed with 40 shots due to variations that exist with a 75mm canon. But what happens when its used as a support vehicle, its still 4 shots to kill, even though it has piddly ~25mm aluminum armor? I think perhaps better to leave the rules like they are.
