[TANKS] Re: M1A1/M1A2 need help

The chip pan being deformed would be due to anneling. If you bend ali
it gets "work hardened" presses use this "fault" to make very strong
lightweight pans. Problem is, once the metal is heated it relaxes and
loses all the hardness it had gained from working it. So I would take
a guess and say the heat has been enough to anneal it.

How are you getting enough clearance at those scales to allow the gun to 
elevate and depress?  I'd love to see some good ideas since I am all out.
