Aaron, I fully agree that a machine gun would not be effective against a
tank. It can do effective damage with standing troops. True, tank shells
were used against embedded sites and a machine gun would not be effective
in this case. Most troops were on their feet and a tank with a machine gun
was a real deterrent. Add paper troops and the tanks have a target and
must battle each other to get to them. I think it would be realistic and
fun. Doug

2012-07-03 Thread Grant Stonnell
Hi
I have done a little bit of stress testing to make sure it will hold up.
at both ends of the travel the rack ether hits the casing or the spring
comes under full compression, as well as that if you look closely at the
pinion you will see it has little lumps on the side of the rounds, this is
to stop the end of travel causing extra stress on the last tooth on each
end.
I have tested it with about 5-600 full movements but i have also done some
testing with extream forces, eg i got a 6lb hammer and hit the crap out of
the end of the trailing arms, this bent the trailing arms but the R&P teeth
held up fine. :)
At the end of the day if they do fail its only 1 min of cutting to make a
new pinion out of 10mm Aluminium and about 2.3mins to make it from 10mm
Stainless Steel or the like :)

I went and saw him Friday after work. He was only a short distance from
where I work so I rushed over as soon as I heard. He is in good spirits and
doing better than the doctors thought he would. Though his prognosis was
not good, he is strong, positive and plans to fight every asset at is
disposal. I have no doubt he will win.
Our prayers and thought go out to Kurt.

No, you cannot for a couple of reasons. Tank can only be armed with
semi-automatic paintball markers which only fires one round per trigger
throw. And, unless the vehicle being modeled had more than one main gun in
real life (like some of the WW tanks), a tank can only be armed with one
marker. Which tank are you modeling?

> Also is there a speed limitation?

Currently no but it is coming. At the last rules discussion we came closer
to adopting vehicle parameters (speed, defense, mag capacity) based on a
models size and not the vehicle modeled.
