I want one :) Not sure the flailing would do much for IEDs and mines.
I don't think the vehicle could flail with enough force. Still cool
though.

[TANKS] new asset for next battle

2014-03-07 Thread Joe Sommer

Kent Massey works for HDT Robotics and has attended several
of our battles previously. I asked him to donate one of their
Protector vehicles to use at our next battle.

Kent recently sent me links to several videos. "Follow me" and
"Suspension Testing" are particularly impressive.

how thick is the trailing arm?

well, that is very different from the one I remember. and the price is
quite reasonable if it includes all that. wish I could remember more about
it, iirc it was supposedly cut out all at once, with a couple of pieces of
sheet on the sides to hold the innards in. i think it was a rack and
pinion--the rack is up against a spring and the swing axle goes through the
pinion. pretty simple.

Well looking at that for USD$25 the NZD$45 for this seems a good price
You get the rack and pinion body, the stub axel, trailing arm and axel.
The only thing we dont supply is the spring as you can select the strength
by putting stronger die springs in for your use. With the standard spring
in it the units will carry 18kg each, we can also make them larger or
smaller depending on your requirements.
The trailing arms and axels come as blanks but keyed so you can spin them
to your requirements.

Do you have any updated pictures? Price seems a bit much, but you're not

get on the market.

Hi mike
The units are 25mm, the spring takes that out to about 30mm, the units are
made from two bits of 10mm aluminium and then a 5mm piece of mild steel.
Approx cost is around NZD$45 each plus shipping.

Grant, what is the approximate per unit cost without springs? Also what is
the overall width of an assembled unit (30mm?).

Hi there
We can make them what ever size U require, the residing factor is what
diameter and lenght the spring is that you want to use.
I have used small 30mm diameter springs only because I had limited space
inside my hull once the batteries had gone in.
If interested i do flatpack the main hull and turret bits fir my Abrams,
only thing is you would then need to weld it all together.
Both the suspension and body can be cut from what ever material U wish, my
hull is 4mm mild steel and suspension is Aluminium.

Let me know if U have any other questions.

too big a deal, are you offering different sizes?
