Which ESC's are you using?

That sounds logical, and I'll look into a receiver battery, but at the time
I wasn't using the servo, and I burnt two ESC's without even using the
rotate or elevate.

2015-04-22 Thread Frank Pittelli
If you were powering the "servo" from the BEC, then the servo could have
easily pulled more power than the BEC was capable of providing.
Usually, BECs only provide an amp or two and servos can pull more than
that when trying to move a heavy load. Most likely, your elevate servo
pulled too much current and blew the BEC circuit in the ESC. If you
power the receiver and servo with a separate battery, all your systems
will be happy.

[TANKS] Question for RC Brains

2015-04-22 Thread Caleb Smith
As many of you know, the Quarter Pounder had a complete system meltdown and
missed a whole battle last year. It started out with the elevate servo
dying, and then the rotate ESC wouldn't respond.
I've done some playing around with the ESC to see if I could remedy its
problem (hadn't let out magic smoke..yet). It turns out that I got it to
work again.
What seems to be the problem is the BEC (battery eliminator circuit) isn't
providing power to the receiver. When I had power going to the receiver
via another source, it would work just fine.

I'm just curious if any of you guys (who know a lot more about this sort of
stuff than I do) could give a possible reason to why this is happening, and
what could have caused it? If not, I'll just waterproof it and throw into
my boat.

Thanks,
Caleb
