Most wheel chair motors would run in the 150RPM range while most of the tanks lately are running around 400RPM. The pair of my wheel chair motors weighs in at 30lbs, whereas a pair of M01 type motors would weigh in at around half that. I would look into building a King Tiger or a Jadgtiger (King Tiger with a fixed gun ie: tank destroyer). The nice thing about tank destroyers is there is TONS of room inside and you don't have to worry so much about being able to fit everything in. The bad about a tank destroyer (I found), was designing an elevation and a traverse. Without a traverse, the build is much simpler. King Tigers use the interleaved wheels which I found to be a royal pain in my rear to build. My next build would be a KV-2 for a turreted tank or an SU-152 for a non-turreted tank, but they are both Russian. I won't build anything with interleaved wheels again. Unless you are pretty good with fiberglassing and wood shaping, I would avoid tanks with lots of weird curves. Once you get the first build out of the way, then I would tackle something a little more complex. I found that I spent a lot of time worrying about whether or not something I was planning on building would work rather than actually building. In the end, nothing gets done (right or wrong) until you try it. My first tank took me about over 2 years to complete since I would start building something and realize that it didn't work. Then I would have to scrap it and start over. My second vehicle went from paper to running chassis in 2 months. These are just my personal experiences. [TANKS] Re: a tank other than the maus
I would like a tank that has a turret. but beggars cant be choosers. do you know a motor that would be good for somone who has no idea what they are doing?
