They do look interesting, and the price is right.  Maybe I'll pick some up for 
testing.  What would be the best way to reduce the rpms? As big as a reduction 
as I can get between the motor and drive shaft, or a transmission like those 
used for EV Warriors?

If I were to build this, I think I'd go with just a limited traverse on the 
turret.  A full 360 might be difficult.  An option would be no traverse and 
run it as a TD (the Frank P. method ;-).

I've been thinking, and I think the Locust will be my starter tank. I will be 
interesting fitting everything inside, especially in that small turret! I enjoy 
challenges though, so I'm looking forward to it. :-)

I know a good bit about brushless motors. I use them in my model boat. (Plus 
LiPo batteries)  I just haven't seen any the seem appropriate for a tank.

Brushless motors are much smaller. Between them and lipos theres plenty of
space saving to be had

All true, but I find compact vehicles more difficult and expensive to build.

The Abrams is a cool tank. :) Would be neat to see one romping around like the 
real thing. (Plus the Quarter Pounder always needs more targets) ;-)
Anyway, what is the approximate price that M01's usually sell for.  I've seen 
them on EBay for $60 with free shipping.

That would be good choice. Kind of boxy, simple road wheel arrangement, and 
reasonable size. That overhang on the back of the turret will be a challenge 
for you, but you can get it !
