RE: [TANKS] Re: Small Markers

2015-10-20 Thread Loic
Ah ah Neil, Yes, I’ts a “bitch being right” for sure.

I’m an Engineer, so, like Mr. Donald Trump, I enjoy to be proven wrong! Because
being wrong help me hone in to the right solution! But it is politically
incorrect… (-;

My “thinking” of an “inexperience combatant” is that 3D combat is very
difficult for my inexperienced and/or untalented brain. Here you are mentioning
Mr. Tyng, but you may forget that Steve got both experience and talent.

Dealing with two motors on a single stick is intuitive. But a combat where you
have to elevate the gun, rotate the turret, and shooting at the same time takes
talent and experience (and luck?).

I hope to have the E-10 ready and firing for next year’s battles and we can
compare notes?

“Les Français aiment un bon argument »

Cheers,

Loic

4 I have battled against the Tyng master and seen the Cromwell drive a big arc
round my tank (T001 at the time) the turret was controlled to keep me in its
sights and firing many shots with most of them scoring hits. this is not
possible with a TD.
5 Sorry to be so argumentative , its a bitch being right..

RE: [TANKS] Re: Small Markers

2015-10-19 Thread Loic
Neil,

And this is the strategy FOA decided to shy away from. I’m building an E-10
right now with NO rotation on the turret. The problem with rotating turret is
the “thinking” that you can shoot faster an opponent by using your traverse. It
brings three issues:

1. Rotating the turret exposes your sides (turret sides to forward
opponents, and hull sides to the side opponents)

2. A small tank can usually pivot its hull faster than a turret can rotate

3. Without turret rotation, you have ONE stick for all your driving, and
just ONE stick for your gun elevation. It simplifies the tasks to your brain in
the middle of an “adrenaline’s full combat situation”

[TANKS] Re: Small Markers

2015-10-19 Thread neroc1
My preference is to have a fully rotating turret in the battles I have been
involved in,
I think what Steve means is the turning ability of a small tank is so good
that you dont really need a rotating turret. but for me a tank with a
turret can shoot to the side (or rear) whilst driving forward. a small but
beneficial ability in battle torn Gettysburg. I think your game play will
be different with a TD,

if you manage to fit a full sized marker in 8 and 1/4 inch, then well done
you.

Re: [TANKS] Re: Small Markers

2015-10-19 Thread neroc1
If I may I respond -

1 It is your positioning (or your opponents excellent positioning) that
exposes you side (or rear).
2, a non turreted tank can only fire upon an opponent whilst driving
towards or away form it, a turreted tank can engage an enemy regardless its
face.
3 a small tank can pivot AND turn its turret to face an opponent.
4 I have battled against the Tyng master and seen the Cromwell drive a big
arc round my tank (T001 at the time) the turret was controlled to keep me
in its sights and firing many shots with most of them scoring hits. this is
not possible with a TD.

How would I go about doing a limited traverse? It would seem that for the
trouble of building a limited traverse I could just go for full traverse.
Correct me if I'm wrong, please.
On a side note, I cut down a Piranha today, removing everything that i could
without damaging the gun. I got the body length down to 7 3\4". I'm happy!

I offer you the very best of luck fitting anything bigger than a .50 cal
marker into an M22 turret. the Locust tank I built (T055) had a turret
diameter of just over 9inch by 3inch high (mainly because that was how big
my old chip pan was). I fitted a .50 cal marker.see pic-

http://www.rctankcombat.com/order-of-battle/tanks/T055/08-large.jpg

I did think about fitting a .68 cal marker stood up in the turret and hull
combined with only a little turret turning capability.but never got round
to it. Your completed Locust (if the same as mine) will be about 22 inches
long. I can pop mine under one arm and walk around with it.

[TANKS] Re: Small Markers

2015-10-15 Thread Caleb Smith
OK, that's good to know. Right now, I'm looking at using a PMI Piranha for
this and pocket the extra cash for something else. I think with a few mods I
can easily make it fit.

2015-10-14 Thread TyngTech
Yep, an upright bottle or siphon. FYI, I bet you could bypass the E1's
built in regulator and run with a 150psi warship reg. That could be an
interesting and space saving option. Maybe I'll pull the reg off the E1
and check the factory pressure setting.

FYI, if discarding the E1's grip, there's an extra 1" of length on the back
of the marker body that does nothing for marker operation and could be cut
off.

OK, that interesting news. Now when you say "dry" co2, is that using an anti
siphon tube or just keeping the bottle upright?
OTOH,the E1 looks like a great gun. I'll have to keep a look out on EBay and
see if I can't pick one up a used one for reduced price.

[TANKS] Re: Small Markers

2015-10-13 Thread TyngTech
An HPA marker can run "dry" CO2 just fine. It can be an issue if the
o-rings used are not CO2 compatible as these may degrade at some point. To
fix this is to replace the o-rings with known CO2 compatible ones. There
are several sellers on eBay that sell CO2 compatible rebuild kits for most
markers. I intend to do this with my E1 if I ever finish up my little
T-60. FYI, my E1 shoots quite nicely on CO2 and it didn't explode in my
hand or produce any of the other disasters the so called knowledgeable on
the paintball forums always predict when running CO2.

Small and cheap do not mix in the paintball world. Look at the Dangerous
Products E1. Same size as the Invert Mini but uses a standard, removable
reg and is cheaper.

I'm beggining to realize that cheap and small don't mix. I don't believe any
of the suggested markers will work. Seems all the new guns are HPA only, and I
want to use co2. If a good option doesn't come up I might use a cut down
Piranha.
