don't know why Vantec just popped into my head, but that's who i should have been looking for (i think).. anyway, this is the one main page that is of interest to me _http://vantec.com/rdfr.htm#36E_ (http://vantec.com/rdfr.htm#36E) now are these the same guys that make controllers for wheel chairs? is there a main web page for them Victor ESC? if there is, i'd still like to look at their pages Chris, _Odyssey Slipways_ (http://hometown.aol.com/odysseyslipways/index.html) **A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. Hi Brad, I wish I could give you any advise on this!! However I think the C6C is a fine option for driving your tank, I guess you'll use a tethered gamepad for use inside the tank? That is a nice gimmick, especially for the kids to drive! Good luck, I'd like to see your project finish! Nothing beats seeing your children having fun with your home built tank. Gotcha. I've got some free space in the rear sponsons that's not yet occupied, seems like a good spot to stash it. I have one side reserved for the air cylinder, the other will be speed controller and electronics stuff methinks. I got inspired by the sunshine outside today, and hauled off all the completed wood panels to paint them. They're sitting out now drying. Almost time to bring them in I think. Next photos of the tank will reflect someslightdifferences in appearance! Brad, I would suspect the long lead hookup might be the socket for the PS2 controller. Could be wrong, seems there are several versions. Using something other than just holding the motor leads up to a battery terminal or two... So, I have a C6C prototype that came with my M01 motors I got from Anvilus. I've been looking at the C6C directions, and tonight I picked up a Sony PS2 hand controller. I'm still hanging out with my ears to the ground for the batteries I want, but what I need to add into the mix is ESC's for the motors, that can be controlled by the C6C. So. What do you guys recommend I pick up? The C6C I have came with a long lead hookup that appears to be some sort of converter thingie that'll go to the ESC (s) What ESC do you guys recommend? Should I buy independant (one per track) or one that's mixed control? I'm open to ideas folks. I spent the evening watching Marc's videos of Jurre's Leopard, and I'm wanting to get things rolling for the boy! Thanks, I appreciate your input! I really like my Sidewinder from Robot Power. It's small, durable, and you can actually call them and talk to a real person. The Abrams weighs a lot and uses attachment chain tracks, so the ESC isn't being babied and it performed well. Others may have better options. Tom On Mar 27, 2009, at 2:06 PM, Frank Pittelli wrote: NavyShooter wrote: It is not the PS2 connector, that's seperate. It's a set of wires that are connected to the servo outputs at positions 1 and 2, and has a set of 5 IC's (4 identical, one raised up) that I'm presuming has something to do with the ESC interface? Does it look like the small circuit in the upper left corner of this picture? http://www.anvilus.com/mrc_image.jpg If so, then you've got an Anvilus 2-channel mixer/relay controller which would provide on/off speed control when connected to 4 relays as shown in the picture. In looking at a couple of people's builds, I think what I'm after is a pair of Anvilus speed controllers. Actually, a single Anvilus speed control drives two motors, so you only need one of them. But, Joe doesn't sell them anymore, so you'll have to go with a commercial controller. Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with commercial speed controls, but hopefully those who have will chime in and provide their answer to the following question: What's the best ESC for R/C Tank Combat purposes? I'm using IFI Victor 883's with an IMX-1 mixing circuit for the M01 motors. I have a Vantec RDFR38E (older version of the current RDFR36E) that is a nice ESC. Picked it up on Ebay for about $150. I just picked up a second set of Victor 883's on Ebay for $150 for both of them for my next tank project. Seems like I'm always buying stuff for future projects when I find a good deal. I have saved searches on Ebay as: victor 88* and vantec RDFR* that notify my via Email when these ESC's come up for sale due to the fact they don't come up for sale that often. The asterik is a wildcard that lets the search find all victors that start with 88 something (883, 885, etc.). Same goes for the Vantec search. I've heard the Sidewinder is a nice unit also - no personal experience with it. Some are using the RS80D with success: http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/RS-RS80D.html . I didn't have good success with it. It would be worth using if you could find a reasonable price on one. Looks like they have lowered the price on it. I've blown one RS80D so I'm on the fence about it. The second one I purchased is still going strong. The RS80D requires a bit of care when installing due to it's design. It is not hermetically sealed and can very easily be damaged by any metalic material or liquid that may find it's way into the controller.
