I would suggest just dividing the size by 6, that works for metric, for
Imperial you'd have to change the feet to inches.

Google has a built-in calculator:

So, if the life size is "24.7 feet" and the scale is "1:6", then you 
would enter "24.7/6=" to get an answer of "24.7 / 6 = 4.1167"
