Re: [TANKS] Tracks arrived

Now if I can only get the suspension sorted, this thing will be ready for
some movement on it's own. Oh, yeah. Need another battery since my
batteries have sat so long while I was in Afghanistan that one of them is
bad. Looking to go LiFePO4 though. I'm selling stuff on Ebay to generate
the cash to buy one of those. Other than that I have all the parts to
finish it. It's 1864 series Rexnord track. The guy wanted $80 box, but I
offered $40 and it was $73 shipping from Canada. So they were on the
expensive side, but like everyone has said...these tracks will outlive me.
There is very little side to side movement and there will be less once
they are connected as a full loop of track. The pads are actually
removable.

Chris,

I was thinking of just spraying or dipping them in Plasticote to give them
a little more smooth surface grip. I surely don't want to drill holes in
that many carbon steel pads to get rubber bolted to them. Don't think
adhesives will stick very long.

Most excellent. I can assure you that you will absolutely love how it
sounds when it is rolling along. There's nothing like a steel track to
generate realistic tank rumbling.

all metal and nice looking!

will you be adding anything to them such as 2 small pads of rubber for
gripping on smooth surfaces or damp grass?
