The 450W motors you have picked out are the ones that I use in my KV-2 build
and my M113, but I use the 24V versions and they are more than adequate to
power our tanks. I doubt that you are going to be running your tank at 36V.
They will run at 24V, but at reduced RPMs and torque. I think you would be
better off with the 24V versions. TNC Scooters sells the 24V versions for
$2 cheaper on their site: http://tncscooters.com/product.php?sku=106118 .
The Airtronics radio is nice if you can get it under $100. Don't bid more
than that for it since you can get a Spektrum DX5e at Robotmarketplace with
the "BR" ground type receiver for around $100. I'm still curious as to why
everyone gravitates to the Saber ESC. In theory it looks nice, but from
what I have seen from the people on this list there are issues with it.
Personally I wouldn't waste my money on it. The others on the list that
have experience with it can give you more info on it. The other two motors
are the ones Steve recommended so those would be good for turret rotate.
Most of us use door lock actuators (from electric door locks on cars) to
pull the trigger on our markers. If you like Ebay, just do a search on
"door lock actuator". You probably won't find one in 24V so most of us use
them at 12V off a separate battery (optimal) or a 12V tap off the drive
batteries (less than optimal). My door lock actuator is triggered by a
micro switch and a servo. The arm of the servo moves when I push the fire
button on my DX5e, trips the switch, and applies power to door lock actuator
which then pulls the trigger.
