2009-03-24 Thread Carl Emerson
Hi there,

Anyone got some real world performance data that shows how well the Unisolar
US64 panels are holding up after several years in service?

Subject: [RE-wrenches] Need Lorentz pump service

Friends:

I have a client with a Lorentz pump controller that is malfunctioning and he
is without water.

I understand that Genpro Energy is the only service agent in the US. Is
this correct? They are not answering their phones today, I assume because
of blizzard conditions.

Is there a replacement for the PS6000? Is there another service company?

Thanks for your help. Needless to say, this is a real serious problem.

Re: [RE-wrenches] IE / Goldline TD-6 or equivalent

2009-03-24 Thread Karl Schwingel
I'm waiting on delivery of the new ThermoK logger from APRS
www.aprsworld.com
I don't have the specs yet, but should be using a 10K thermistor, with
something like 6 channels, data logging and 2 relays. I will report
back to the list when I have some hands on experience with this new product.

leftover, please contact me off list). Since these have been out of
production since 2005, I am looking for an equivalent. A single
station monitor with a known, replicable sensor (10k thermistor
preferred) could be made into a multi channel with a rotary switch.
There are a multitude of digital thermometers with attached probe, but
it seems hard to get info about the probe type or value. Any thoughts
or experience is appreciated.

Re: [RE-wrenches] Shell/Solar World 75's clones

2009-03-24 Thread Larry Crutcher, Starlight Solar

David,

I just got 5 used Siemens 75 watt modules in good condition. They are
the same module you are looking, they just pre-date Shell. Not cheap
as we have very high demand for these used panels (traffic control
signs used tons of these). Let me know soon.

Jeff Randall (DPW) told me about an AEE 80J module, that I do not
see listed in their latest modules. Sharp 80's are very close in
size and voltage but Jeff says the J-box is in an awkward location
for his Top of Pole Mount. This job is for a large TPM (already
ordered) for a job with half old modules and half new and now the
Solar World 75's can't be had, as far as I can tell. It's a long and
boring story about how this came to designed as it is.

Any advice from AEE folks David K, or Brian T? Or others?

Re: [RE-wrenches] SHW $/ft^2

2009-03-24 Thread Karl Schwingel
Remember Nick, that software hasn't really been touched in 15 years or
something like that.

I've been hearing $120/SF around the midwest for Large (400sf and up)
commercial DHW systems. Those are really nice systems, with all sorts
of subcontractors involved. Commercial pipe fitters and roofers,
commercially insulated, etc.
I'm sure it could be done cheaper if you did everything in-house. Our
state rebate program (focusonenergy.com) publishes data on prices, I'll
see if I can find it online and send a link to the group.

ridiculously low or I'm doing something really wrong...

Thanks in advance,
