Aloha all,

I’ve found what I find to be reasonable installation warranty language covering
installation workmanship and materials.

Please contact me off-line if you’re interested in getting that verbiage.

Re: [RE-wrenches] K1-Open Fault on SMA SB

2016-06-29 Thread Jason Szumlanski
It's out of warranty. 10 year old SB3300U.

Went out today. Everything checked out on the AC and DC side, fuses, etc.
Looks like a dead duck. Owner went for a new SB3000TL.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

Did the original documentation say "dirt on the glass is liable to cause
hotpots and invalidate the warranty"? No? Thought not. They can't just make
stuff up after the fact.

Sorry, this is the result. Soiled module glass is the cause, this resulted in

So they are saying the dirt on the glass caused the problem. How
convenientthat response can be used to derail every claim. These panels
should be designed for ourdoor use. That is total bs. So does
their product lliterature state dirt is a problem and indicate how often they
should be cleaned.

Should we as installers accept this?

Fear not, I have had two in the last year and they were fantastic. Sent out
new inverters as soon as I sent on the model and serial #'s. K-1 is not usually
fixable so they send out new or refurbed units.

Apparently it is caused by high voltage on the line side and after X # of
times the relay just locks open. Enjoy.

I'm heading out on my first K1-Open fault code on a SMA inverter. Any tips
for diagnostic steps and likely outcome? I'm dreading the call to SMA based on
recent feedback about their customer support.
