[RE-wrenches] VFX Board compatibility
Hi Group, I have quite a collection of VFX and GVFX inverters with board problems. I am trying to get a few working by cannibalizing others. To my knowledge some boards are DC Voltage specific (ie FET Board), Ac Board is common on all FX series, control board is voltage and grid vs off-grid specific. I have a control board that has a double pin selector for 12,24, or 48V. Does anyone know if my recollections above are correct and if the control board with the pin can be changed to the specific voltages just by moving the pin? Re: [RE-wrenches] module level control for offgrid
Jerry, Why do you have to meet rapid shutdown on an existing installation please? Down here in the central Sierra we have been uninsurable for fire really since we built the home. Many of my clients self-insure offgrid. We do the best we can for installation and fire hardening and then just cross the fingers. I am interested in this subject because it will get looked at more. Since I mostly always use ground mounted solar I have not been as concerned. You guys really had it bad. I can't imagine all the fires we have had here with those kinds of wind speeds. Re: [RE-wrenches] module level control for offgrid
I tried to design a system with TS4-Os and an Outback CC. They were not compatible at that time (about a year ago) due to conflict between optimizer function and Outback MPPT. The system would get stuck off MPPT. I assume that is still the case but cannot confirm. Tigo support kept saying they had resolved the issue (while blaming Outback) but never did. We finally just removed the units. Re: [RE-wrenches] module level control for offgrid
Wrenches Regarding the RSD both here and coming soon to a town near you, I found that the Tigo TS4-R-S is completely compliant for the OutBack system including module level monitoring, however the F model also from Tigo is not at all. I attempted to contact other manufactures but had no success, if they are hard to get or find that does not make me feel warm and fuzzy down the road. So for all of us living and building the off grid dream and wanting to be 2017 compliant when it happens we have a solution. I have had conversations with the insurance groups and for us in the 2017 fire storm on Sonoma and Napa Counties here in California, there has been questions about paying out if the system is either not permitted or modified in such a manor that is unsafe.
