Hi Bill Well the FNDC can monitor up to 3 shunts. Individual shunt can be viewed grand total can be viewed on the Mate3(S). During our phone conversation you mentioned the Mate3(S) was down stairs with the rest of the gear. 2 thoughts.
1 Run an extra cat5 cable upstairs so the mate can be moved upstairs for viewing leaving a shorter cable downstairs to be plugged in if you are working in front of the equipment. 2 If you do want to use the trimetric the shunt would need to be located somewhere in the final dc run to the batteries. I would suggest directly at the battery connection point. I hope this helps take care sir. New FlexPwer2 installed in customer's basement, I like to keep the Mate with the system because the basement is my access point for future programming, troubleshooting, etc (rather than entering the house which many times is unoccupied)...no internet or cell service onsite. To have some system status info in the house for the customer I would like to install a Trimetric 2030 upstairs. This looks a bit tricky with three shunts in the DC enclosure to monitor various in/outputs for the FNDC to function and display info properly for the Mate. Where-o-where might the sense wire be connected to properly measure NET amps flowing hither and fro to supply the correct info for the Trimetric? The picture should help, the two cables coming off the bottom (right side) of shunt "B" are inverter negs.
