[RE-wrenches] Sol-Ark arc fault issues

2022-05-10 Thread Eric Smiley via RE-wrenches
A general question for those who have installed Sol-Ark.
We have a handful of systems that have consistently displayed arc-faults
that, as best as we can determine, are false positives. Is this something
others have experienced? We are trying to determine if this is a general
problem with Sol-Ark or if we are having poor luck.
Our other string inverter systems are not displaying this problem, which
leads us to believe it isn't due to installer error.

We have had the same issues in the past, their newest firmware seems to
have fixed the issue.

Are your solark install with arcfaults have RSD, as not all RSD devices
work well and can call faults.

Re: [RE-wrenches] Sol-Ark 15k

2022-05-10 Thread Jerry Shafer via RE-wrenches
Just so it is abundantly clear to all that wish to modify or cut open an
inverter, SMA will not do any advanced replacements of any inverters that
have been modified, Outback is not a problem as they are field serviceable,
SolArk is a all in one unit and any modification to the cabinet will
prevent you from getting an advance replacement and increasing down time
from days to weeks if not months so this may be an decision maker why not
to do, I have 1 to 5 solarks on gutters with no issues getting any cabling
into the unit.

[RE-wrenches] Hail

2022-05-10 Thread Kristopher Schmid via RE-wrenches
We had a pretty serious weather event and one of my clients had hail broken
glass. I advised him to request a replacement of the whole array or, if
not, a module by module inspection for I-V curves and hot spots. I am
wondering if should reach out to other clients. I don't want to be a storm
chaser, but am concerned about micro-fractures.
