Re: [RE-wrenches] Step up charge controllers?

2022-05-12 Thread Chris Sparadeo via RE-wrenches
Just like Jerry mentioned, I’ve gotten out of similar situations by
manipulating the multiple strings in the combiner box to conform to string
voltage requirements. Instead of having 2 strings of 3 modules, with one
well placed burndy connector, you now have a single string of 6. It can
become more complicated with odd string numbers and fewer MPPT input
options.

I do not believe the Florida Building Code adopted this section. Vents must
terminate at least 6 inches above the roof. Neither the 2017 code currently
in effect nor the 2020 code includes the language of IBC P3103.1.3.

Re: [RE-wrenches] Solar Roof Jack

2022-05-12 Thread Daniel Young via RE-wrenches
Just curious if there is a reason you don’t just cut the roof vent off above
the flashing?

It is allowed by the 2018 IRC and later in section P3103.1.3, solar modules are
explicitly called out as a reason to cut the vents.

https://codes.iccsafe.org/content/IRC2021P1/chapter-31-vents#IRC2021P1_Pt07_Ch31_SecP3103

Not all states adopt this of course. Ohio for example redacted this from the
code version they have adopted. So maybe that is the reason. If not, there is
your code reference if needed.
