Re: [RE-wrenches] Amphenol and MC4 crimper

2016-09-22 Thread Luke Christy
HI Carl,
I used that tool for a couple of years, and found it fine. I did eventually
switch to a Rennsteig crimper for H4 connectors but only because I found a
great deal on eBay. I wouldn’t have any qualms about using the Amphenol-branded
tool. It definitely doesn’t have the quality of the Rennsteig tool but it
crimped fine and seemed like it would have decent life for the money.

I would suggest talking to the folks at PV cables.

They know about crimpers!

Carl,

I have owned that exact tool for 8 years or so. It has worked flawlessly
for me on I would guess around 600 crimps.

I purchased a Helios H4TC0001 crimper, as recommended by Kyocera and have to
report it as junk. After wrecking several H4 crimps I went back to using the
German-Made Multi-Contact tool used for MC4 connectors and it appears to do a
fine job on the H4 crimps. Just difficult to have everything lined up, and to
stay lined up.

Hello Wrenches,

I wanted to ask you about Helios and MC4 crimpers. I bought a set of
theAmpenol H4 crimp teeth and loactor for my Reinstag crimper some time back,
to handle the Amphenol H4 connectors They work well but require changing the
locator for femal and male crimps and they are expensive. I see this tool is
