Still trying to catch up and get my routine down again, but it's nice not to have to do something at a certain time like a lecture, feeding the dog, etc. today Mike is working and I'm doing whatever I feel like it when I feel like it until he comes home at 8:30 tonight. Then we will have supper and relax. May call friends, read or just do nothing special. Take care. It's not Home made pot pie has never been so easy! And the flavorful mac & cheese topping adds another dimension to this dish. The basic recipe makes 2 individually sized pot pies - enough for 2 big eaters, or 4 smaller appetites. It's not hard - really, it's not! Serves 2 to 4 - Preparation Time 1 hour 2 frozen pie crusts 1 box macaroni and cheese 1/4 c. milk (or to taste) 1/4 c. butter (or to taste) 19 oz. can chunky beef soup or stew 1 c. shredded cheddar cheese (optional) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Thaw pie crusts 15 minutes. Make the macaroni & cheese according to box directions, or your favorite variation. While macaroni is cooking, heat soup in a saucepan. After thawing shells, press each carefully into an individual size oven-proof bowl or soufflé pan, smoothing it out and patching any cracks. Cut off excess around edges. Pour soup into pie shell. Carefully place spoonfuls of macaroni and cheese on top of pie, covering it evenly. Scatter cheddar cheese on top of the pie. Bake 35 minutes, or until cheese is melted and starting to brown. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Access the Recipes And More list archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/recipesandmore%40googlegroups.com/ Visit the group home page at: http://groups.google.com/group/RecipesAndMore -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---
[RecipesAndMore] Re: Home Remedies for Sunburn
thanks so very very much for these doctor, as i am going out in a bit, i may need them soon delma - Original Message - From: steve doyle To: RecipesAndMore@googlegroups.com Sent: Friday, June 06, 2008 6:44 AM Subject: [RecipesAndMore] Home Remedies for Sunburn Home Remedies for Sunburn If you stayed out in the sun a bit too long, a quick look through your kitchen cabinets can provide you with the relief you need. Here are some all-natural home remedies you can use for sunburns. a.. Aloe Vera: Take some leaves from an aloe plant and refrigerate them. After they have cooled, you can peel off the top layer of a leaf and apply the exposed gel directly to the sunburn. Aloe is very effective in relieving pain and inflammation. b.. Baking Soda: Dissolve baking soda in water, and make a compress using a clean cloth. Alternately, put 1/2 cup of baking soda into your tepid bathwater, then let the affected area air dry. c.. Cucumbers: Rub the sunburned area with fresh cucumber slices. d.. Lemon Water: Mix the juice of three lemons into two cups of cold water, and then sponge the mixture onto the sunburn. e.. Vinegar: Lightly rub vinegar on the affected area. It will ease the pain. You may have to reapply a few more times. It will not smell great but it does take away the pain. You can also pour a cup of vinegar in a bath of luke warm water and soak in it for about 15 minutes or longer if desired, it will relieve the pain of sunburn immediately and the redness that comes the sunburn and helps prevent peeling. You can also apply the vinegar before going out in the sun and you will lessen the chances of getting sunburn. Hi Marilyn, I'm so glad you both are back home. It must be such a relief! I will continue to hold you both in prayer. Dealing with medical procedures (chemo) and doctors visits ... testing can also take a toll. About the six small meals: how about soup, cheese and crackers, veggies and dip, a sandwitch/or a half, a bagel topped in any number of ways, eggs, soy burgers, a salad, a bowl of cereal, ... that's enough for now. May God continue to bless you both and please extend my best wishes to Frank for recovery from this surgery and continued successful treatments. [RecipesAndMore] Re: Home!!!
Hi, Marilyn, I never heard of that! The hospital food is cooked where? then brought to the various hospitals; people have told me hospital coffee is awful, did not hear complaints regarding the gravy served there; one time, when my dad was hospitalized, the beef was as tough as shoe leather! Mom asked the nurse how anyone was expected to eat the stuff, since she was griping that he was not eating much, and what foods did he really enjoy? we said all pasta products, and he loved mac and cheese; guess they could butcher pasta, too and overcook it till it tasted like library paste or glue! Yuck! that's why I hate institutional cooking so much, 'cause I had to eat the crap when attending the school for the blind. Sandy Re: eating six small meals a day: you could fix say, 2 different meals, and vary the portions, like, first do breakfast, then a small portion of one meal, then later, a small amount of the 2nd choice, and so on; how about soup and grilled cheese; one time, yogurt and a small (half) sandwich)? Or scrambled egg and toast; some of his faves from the Italian or grocery deli to vary sandwiches? can he have pizza? order in one and get 2 medium, or large, different types, and he can heat it and snack off that. - Original Message - From: Marilyn L DeWeese To: RecipesAndMore@googlegroups.com Sent: Wednesday, April 18, 2007 7:34 AM Subject: [RecipesAndMore] Re: Home!!!
