ABC News: Women's group raises doubts over some land claim evidence Tuesday 20 July, 1999 (11:53am AEST) A rural women's lobby group wants answers from the Australian Anthropological Society regarding recent allegations of dishonest and illegal activities by anthropoligists relating to Aboriginal land claims. Spokeswoman for the Regional Women's Alliance, Lindsay MacDonald, said leaseholders are concerned by recent media reports that some anthropologists are fabricating and distoring evidence to ensure Aboriginal clients win land claim cases. Mrs MacDonald said Australia's legal processes will be undermined unless the Anthropological Society can ensure all its members are acting with integrity and accountability. "Fabricating eveidence which is going to influence a land claim case is illegal," she said. "Its up to the Anthropological Society to ensure the public that its members are acting honestly and this practice is not going on." ------------------------------------------------------- RecOzNet2 has a page @ http://www.green.net.au/recoznet2 and is archived at http://www.mail-archive.com/ To unsubscribe from this list, mail [EMAIL PROTECTED], and in the body of the message, include the words: unsubscribe announce or click here mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Body=unsubscribe%20announce This posting is provided to the individual members of this group without permission from the copyright owner for purposes of criticism, comment, scholarship and research under the "fair use" provisions of the Federal copyright laws and it may not be distributed further without permission of the copyright owner, except for "fair use."
