this link is not found.

BTW, why did't redhat do all this? Mandrake 8.2 has this working out of the
box.
Was'nt redhat 8.0 supposed to be for the desktop? Also my digital camera,
used to
work out of the box in Mandrake 8.0 and it does not work under redhat 8.0
right out
of the box and 8.0 is supposed to be for the desktop?

get the standalone usbdnet file.
Unzip it. Untar it.
Install the src to Redhat 8.0
make a link at /usr/src/linux to point to /usr/src/linux-2.4.18-14
so when you compile include/config.h can be found.
follow instructions in README file for make of usbdnet.c in a
directory you make for it.
goto /usr/hotplug/usb and add CDCEther to the blacklist
copy usbdnet.o to /lib/modules/2.4.18-3/kernel/drivers/usb
do a depmod -a
connect zaurus to usb port
do ifconfig usb0 192.168.129.1 See your zaurus networking sync tab
but the pc's address ends with 1, the zaurus
with 201
ping will now work
Download from Trolltec the Qtopia desktop 1.6 beta and install.
Zaurus will now sync with that program

Has anyone been able to use the Zaurus 5500 with RedHat 8.0, and if
so, how?

When I connect it via USB I get the following:

Oct 19 12:37:08 localhost kernel: hub.c: USB new device connect on
bus1/2/3, assigned device number 7
Oct 19 12:37:08 localhost kernel: CDCEther.c: eth2: Sharp SL Series
Oct 19 12:37:08 localhost /etc/hotplug/net.agent: invoke ifup eth2
Oct 19 12:37:11 localhost /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: Setup acm CDCEther
for USB product 4dd/8004/0
Oct 19 12:38:21 localhost kernel: usb.c: USB disconnect on device 7
Oct 19 12:38:21 localhost /etc/hotplug/net.agent: NET unregister event
not supported

According to the kernel there is no eth2 device when I attempt to do
ifconfig
