(have just switched to test10 to send out this e-mail - using 2.2.17 usually) As for X, maybe this is a stupid question, but did you have xfs running before you started it? -- cheers Ah Khoo ___ Redhat-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list

I have 2.4.0-test10 running on 6.2 (with the updated packages of course since it's dumb to do anything out of the box if there's an update). What is this 'address family' business? Suggestion: Go to a 6.2 updates mirror and upgrade EVERYTHING that you're currently running... glibc, sysklogd, etc. Then try it again. Also, if you use pppd, grab the ppp-2.4.0 tarball from somewhere, remove the ppp RPM and install the tarball. 2.4.0 is required by.. 2.4.x :) -Statux ___ Redhat-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list

Re: RH6.2 + kernel 2.4.0 problems
Keep in mind that this could actually be a 'programming error' in the kernel, and that you may not be having a config problem. You say it started after test4? After every release? RH6.2 + kernel 2.4.0 problems
This is another attempt to solve this problem since 2.4 seems nearly upon us! When I boot kernel 2.4.0-test10 with a stock RH6.2 system I get two errors, first the syslog won't start: syslogd: cannot create /dev/log: Address family not supported by protocol and then the X server won't start: .. _X11TransSocketOpen: socket() failed for local _X11TransSocketOpenCOTSClient: Unable to open socket for local _X11TransOpen: transport open failed for local/opal.attglobal.net:0 giving up. xinit: Address family not supported by protocol (errno 97): unable to connect to X server xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error. Something is obviously missing, introduced after 2.4.0-test4 I think, but what? What is this 'address family' business? TIA -Robin. -- -- Robin Atwood, Singapore.
